How the power of Alumni networks can achieve positive impactful change and better life outcomes for youth.

A unique survey of schools in Australia, Kenya, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom

‘Positive Outlooks, Stronger Community Ties’

Kamini Paul CEO of inHive tells us why this report is so important:

“I am delighted to be able to share the report ‘The Impact of Alumni Network Programmes on Educators’ which is the result of a two-year collaborative research project conducted in partnership with CARE Pakistan, Future First UK, Future First Kenya and Our School Australia.

As the first international study of its kind, the report examines the impact of alumni network programmes on educators in secondary schools, with survey findings providing ground-breaking evidence about the impact that networks of alumni (former students) have on teacher attitudes, skills, capacities and civic engagement.

From a wide number of respondents, including 76 educators in 41 schools across the UK, Pakistan, Kenya and Australia, the report gives us key insights into how alumni networks not only provide educators with access to peer role models for their students, but how they can also help to inspire them to achieve greater things beyond their school years.

I am particularly excited to see how powerful alumni networks provide access to professionals that help enrich the curriculum and allow educators to have access to more resources beyond their traditional support.

We also see that in allowing alumni to sit on school boards, can not only provide insight into much needed skills required for professions in the world of work today, but how this type of participation can contribute to teachers’ skills development and consequently lead to an important positive impact on young people’s educational experiences.

If we are to prepare young people, across the globe, for the world of tomorrow and all the urgent challenges they currently face impacting their futures; namely climate change, global inequality, and global unemployment, then we need to find pathways for support, such as access to networks to help them flourish and become future leaders.

My hope is that this evidence-based report will facilitate conversations and amplify the narrative as to how the power of networks for young people is key for their future development within the education ecosystem (schools, universities, scholarship providers and funders).

InHive truly believes that in taking solution oriented practical steps to support all young people, no matter where they are from, access to networks is integral in really helping them achieve better life outcomes. ”
