We know the importance of networks for young people. Helping them tackle today’s problems, connect and learn together and find opportunities for growth.

Now we want to share these insights and academic evidence to build a movement toward networks that include all young people.

Since the start of our work in 2013, we have been conducting research into networks best practices, harvesting lessons learned from our projects through reports, and amplifying the insights of others to improve the quality of our work and network building more broadly.

We have focused on adapting and learning across different geographies and understanding network building with and for some of the most disadvantaged.

Through this work, we have designed inHive’s bespoke Networks Assessment Matrix and have made it available for anyone to use.

We have also incubated the Networks Playbook which is freely available and has been disseminated by various organisations and researchers to their networks.

How we do it

  • Writing: we evaluate our own work and write about our experiences and insights, which we share both on our website and on other platforms, including the World Economic Forum. We co-author blogs with our partners and capture observations from across the sector to share
  • Presenting: we convene sector leader speakers and participate in panels, workshops, and webinars to share best practices and impact of networks. This includes presentations at summits and conferences such as Catalyst 2030, WISE, HundrED, or Teach for All.
  • Undertaking evaluations and research: we collect data from our projects and collaborate with networks to gather and analyse insights that fill the gaps in our collective knowledge. From our founding research to investigations of alumni networks’ impact on teachers.
  • Curating resources: we collate high quality reports, toolkits, case studies, as well as stories and easily accessible blogs that speak to a wide range of issues pertinent to networks serving young people.
  • We do storytelling to amplify the voices and successes of networks by collecting and sharing stories from around the world, be it individual network members, organisations or communities.
