Future First Global will be hosting our first panel discussions, one on May 17th and one on May 18th, from 6-8pm in Central London. The two evenings will bring together a select group of people from education and international development to discuss the role alumni can play in education and also in organizations.
Both events will be taking place at the Open Society Foundation offices in Central London, a short walk from Pimlico underground station. They will be starting at 6pm, with the programme due to start at 6:15pm. The main discussion is due to finish at 7:30pm but we’d love our guests to stay around for a drink and a chat afterwards if they’re able!
Three speakers have been confirmed for the evening on the 17th on the role alumni can play for organizations. We are delighted to confirm three panellists: Mike Butcher, Senior Communications Officer at Raleigh International, Rashid Bhayat, CEO at Positive Youth Foundation and Alex Beard, Director of System Change at Teach For All, who will all be sharing their experiences of alumni communities at their organisations. The discussion will shed light on what alumni can offer to the growth and sustainability of organizations and what should and can be done to support their role.
For our event on the 18th on the role of alumni in global education, we have confirmed three additional panelists: Moira McKerracher, Lead for Youth Policy at the Department for International Development, Adrian Carr, CEO of EducAid, and Hugh McLean, Director of the Education Support Programme at Open Society Foundation. The panellists will all be sharing their experiences of alumni communities in supporting school to work transitions, and will discuss the potential impact of alumni communities on public education systems. There will then be a wider discussion about the role of alumni opened up to all guests. The discussion will cover both the potential support that alumni can provide in schools themselves, as well as the broader role alumni communities could have on strengthening public education systems.
