Aisha is also a social entrepreneur and founder of Project Transformed Achievers Network Uganda, an initiative dedicated to mental health awareness and youth empowerment through poultry farming.
Aisha showcases how powerful networks can transform lives, shape careers, and strengthen communities. A Mastercard Foundation Scholar Program Alumna from Makerere University with a degree in Community Psychology, combines her passion for storytelling and advocacy to drive real change.
Since 2022, Aisha has been a vibrant force within the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Alumni Network at Makerere University- affectionately known as the The Makerere AlumNet Foundation. In her current role on the AlumNet Foundation Committee as Assistant Communication Lead and Public Relations Associate, she brings stories to life, boosts brand visibility, coordinates events, and connects the community through powerful content and social media. It’s been a learning experience that not only sharpened her skills but also opened doors to touch lives, build deeper connections, and gain valuable professional exposure—especially in the areas she’s most passionate about, like social media, storytelling, and community engagement.
Being part of the alumni network has been a lifeline in Aisha’s journey, both personally and professionally. Through mentorship, hands-on workshops, and rich peer-to-peer exchange, she’s gained more than just skills—she’s found purpose, direction, and a deep sense of belonging.
“Even after completing the program, I never feel alone,” Aisha shares. “The alumni network is a family, one that listens, supports, and inspires.”
In a world that often feels fragmented, Aisha’s experience reminds us that community isn’t just a support system, it’s a catalyst for growth.
Why Alumni Networks Matter — And Why You Should Care Too
“For me, being part of an alumni network isn’t just a checkbox on a LinkedIn profile — it’s a lifeline, a launchpad, and a community all in one. It’s where I’ve found mentors who believe in me, peers who challenge me, and opportunities I never would have accessed on my own. From capacity-building workshops to collaborative projects, the network has given me space to grow, lead, and belong — long after graduation.” – Aisha Nalumansi.
Aisha Nalumansi firmly believes that a vibrant alumni network is a reflection of an institution’s values, vision and global reach. Alumni serve as global ambassadors, helping to promote the institution’s mission and attracting new students, partnerships, and opening doors for new opportunities. In turn, they give back through mentorship, financial support, and collaboration, ensuring that the institution remains connected to real-world challenges and solutions.
Aisha highlights is a catalyst for mutual growth. As alumni give back, through mentorship, financial contributions, or collaboration, they also gain. They sharpen their leadership skills, expand their professional circles, and unlock new possibilities for themselves and their communities.
Staying connected matters because it reminds us we’re part of something bigger. It’s about:
So, why should you care?
Because the people you stay connected to today might just be the ones who help you unlock tomorrow.
Aisha journey is more than a personal success, it is a call for action. For alumni, current scholars, and young professionals across Africa and beyond, her story underscores this truth:
Being connected is no longer optional—it’s essential.
In a world that often feels fragmented and isolating, Aisha’s experience is a powerful reminder that community isn’t just a support system, it’s a catalyst for growth, healing, and transformation. The truth is, we all need spaces where we feel seen, heard, and valued. Alumni networks offer just that. But their potential is often underestimated or overlooked, in many parts of the world where structured alumni engagement is still a relatively new concept. However, it’s now gaining increased attention and recognition as a powerful driver of growth, connection, and long-term impact.
Why does it matter?
Because being part of a vibrant network is a profound opportunity to grow- professionally and personally. It helps to stay grounded and focused on what is worth. Being connected provides teachable moments you don’t learn from school, how to navigate real-world challenges, build meaningful relationships, and adapt to unexpected change
“Staying connected isn’t just about giving back,” she says. “It’s about growing together. You never know where the next idea, opportunity, or support system might come from.”
This is the hidden power of networks. And when embraced, it has the potential to not only change lives—but to reshape the future of leadership and impact across continents.
